123a3525a5ff tech Hello Wayne - ->> I finally got fed up with the burner I have now and went ->> out and bought one of those 'double layer' DVD RW burners ->> that also does CDRs and CDRWs. ->> Won't work here. Either it's my BIOS (Award) or my boot ->> manager but something gives me a "DMI pooling data" message ->> and the boot process stops before ever accessing the ->> bootmanager's files on the hard drive. :-\ WC> I've the same reservations about trying one here. Even the WC> Belkins BIOS'ed I/O card I'm contemplating purchasing only WC> mentions CD-ROMs and burners but no DVD burners. When I returned the DVD burner the man at the counter told me he had bought one too and had to return it as incompatible with his system. :-\ WC> I've seen the DMI error myself some time ago when WC> attempting to use a freeware DOS C compiler and a DOS MPEG WC> player. SimTel had a program that fixed that but I've no WC> recollection what it's called. ->> Tried several combinations as master, as slave, etc. Only ->> the DVD burner and hard drive - and a few other ->> combinations. WC> I think you may have overtaken your legacy hardware :-( Yes, I suspected it was a bit much but thought it would be cute if I could make it work. I took back the DVD burner and picked up a rather fast 52x32x52 CDRW burner instead. I can now burn a full 650meg CD in 4 1/2 minutes. :-) Had some trouble with installing the version of NERO that was bundled with the drive. I had HP RecordNow and HP DLA installed. NERO refused to install InCD until I uninstalled DLA. No problem for me but I somehow 'lost' the ".msi" file for the uninstall and wound up having to hand edit the registry (over 200 instances) to remove DLA and RecordNow. :-\ Nice burner though. I like the under 5 minutes burn time a LOT! > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
