subject: Service pegging the CPU problem.

Has anyone had SERVICE task peg the CPU while attempting to install
updates to Warp4?

I have been trying to install updates to TCPIP and MPTS but in each case
the program gets to the part where I believe it to be trying to start the
actual install, but it pegs the CPU and does nothing.

At least nothing for 10+min while I try to be patient.

CSF-144 is the software I'm currently trying to use.

1. instfixp.cmd sets a couple of environment variables.
2. calls the service program.
3. the service program searches my drives for things to update. 4. I get
that list and click the "service"
5. I get a dialog that allows me to specify a backup directory. 6. after
that, it tells me that I have some DLL's locked.
7. I select continue and allow SERVICE to handle locked DLL's like it is
supposed to. 8. the backup takes place. (no CPU pegged here)
9. after the backup is finished, a slight pause, and then the CPU pegs.
Nothing else happens after that.

I'm certain that I'm not the only one who has run across this problem.
Feedback is very much appreciated.

TIA,
-MarkV
