I dont think I would walk in the street using my scanner, in the
car maybe

Well the way I read it in the US you are allowed to listen to
anything as long as it is not specifically prohibited.
Whats the situation in Canada.
Across here it seems to be you can only listen to what is allowed
on your licence, I will stand corrected but I think it mentions
somewhere broadcast for the general public etc.
Also it mentions somewhere if you accidently hear something you
shouldn't it is an offence to tell someone else what you heard.
The police in the next county have publicly stated that if they
catch anyone with a scanner they will check the memories and if
they contain police frequencies they will prosecute
Note I would say our county is akin to a state or province
At one time it was frowned on if you used a scanner at airports to
monitor the traffic but the last time I was at Manchester I seem to
remember reading that they allowed there use, but reserved the
right to withdraw the permission if they wished.
What is the situation in Canada / US
