PF> PM> In terms of the WATCOM IDE itself. It is minimal, especially when PF> PM> compared to the Borland IDE. However, the WATCOM OS/2 compiler is far PF> PF> I only have BCPP2 1.0; the ide did not support multiple PF> targets as Watcom's does (a feature any medium/large PF> project needs). Do you know if the newer version does? BCPP2 v2.0 is, as far as I know, still in beta. Like its parents, 1.0 & 1.5, it supports only OS/2 32-bit (I stand to be corrected on this point, it could support 16-bit OS/2 compilations as well, but I don't think so). What is does give you, ostensibly, is the Object Windows Library. What every you write using OWL or standard C++ classes or standard C library functions can be compiled using the upcoming BCPP 4.5 compiler for DOS, Windows et al. That's about all I can tell you at this time. If you really want to know about 2.0, I can try to glean some more info from the few weak contacts I have a Borland Canada. I am planning to contact someone at Borland this week, just to underline what a lame dog BCPP/2 really is. This past week, I was using it to try to write some multi-threaded code. Just some simple open the file and close it stuff. Wouldn't work. Work! hell wouldn't even compile!!! Then I tried the same code with the WATCOM compiler and presto, the files opened and then, surprise surprise, they closed! Now if only I could get the hang of event-driven programming!!!! ___ X KWQ/2 1.2e X If at first you don't succeed, put it out for beta test. --- Maximus/2 2.01* Origin: Sol 3 * Toronto * V.32 * (905)858-8488 (1:259/414) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 54/54 620/243 624/50 632/348 640/820 690/660 711/409 410 413 SEEN-BY: 711/430 807 808 809 934 942 949 712/353 623 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 259/414 400 99 98 3615/50 229/2 12/2442 711/409 54/54 711/808 809 934 |
