For the purposes of this discussion Java is Innotek versions 1.42_1
(-1) or 1.42_5 (-5). Success is defined as getting the little guy on
the site below to dance.

I currently am attempting to use Java on four machines; one socket
seven AMD 550, two P4 1.7 Celerons, and an AMD Athlon 2200. All are
running W4 FP15 with a variety of kernels.

The AMD 550 has done fine with -5 probably since it first was released.

The AMD 2200 worked with -1 but not -5, then it quite working, and now
it works with -5.

One P4 wouldn't work with -1 but does work with -5.

The other P4 I have not been able to get to work. Help\About plugins
does not pick up Java. Yesterday I did a copy of a complete Mozilla
tree including plugins. This generally works. But still no Java.
There are apparently variables I am overlooking.

So, to the question of whether Java will work on a particular machine,
the answer is, probably yes. IF you get all the ducks lined up properly.

Good luck

Ray
