Hello Rod!
As you can see from the log, one of the times the problem with you having
to wait 10 minutes was because Anthony May hopped on, and the other time
was because my modem had failed to hang up when you did. I wonder if I
should try S10=1. The thing is, you hung up after each of these connects
didn't you (just by dropping carrier). Therefor, the problem is not a
matter of S10, it is another problem, right? If it was having problems
thinking the engaged signal was a carrier, then every time you hang up,
data should continue being sent, and in fact you should have been sent to
the BBS in all these cases. Therefor, it is when you connect at a funny
speed, and send huge amounts of garbage, that my modem gets confused and
decides that it must be a game and starts sending garbage to my computer.
Sounds like a good theory to me, so where exactly would the problem be? In
the meantime, I'll reduce the Maximus log on time to 4 minutes. BFN.
P.S. I tried simulating the problem with my 1200 bps modem, and every time
I hang up, the modem hangs up too. And that's with S10=3. I think I'll
ask again in the Spirit echo. BFN.
Paul
