From: "Mark Hessey" Frankly Randall, I enjoy reading various passages from the Bible from time to time, and it is a "good" book, it is chock full of ideas that can help you shape your outlook on life and it provides tons of ideas for use in shaping sermons that do reflect current conditions - but I have serious misgivings about their literal application in today's world. Taking the bouncing bridges from another thread as an example, suppose I give you directions to my house that include taking Bridge B, 50 years later Bridge B bounces itself into oblivion - do I continue to tell people to get to my house via Bridge B? Nope. Do I refer to the prior existence of Bridge A when updating directions to them? Yup. If someone I've never given directions to in the past asks me, do I mention Bridge A? Nope - irrelevant that it was once there to that person. This new person is still going to get here, but he'll do it using modern day conveyances.
