-> WC> You've got it. -> WC> That's EXACTLY what happened. -> WC> Toast in the blink of an eye. -> WC> Now Linux doesn't even recognize the drive :-( -> Wayne, try an FDISK replacement called AEFDISK. Using it, I was able to -> get an older drive recognized (delete/remake MBR) after utilities like -> "Zap" and "Wipe" and "Debug" failed to recognize it. It's shareware, but -> only a couple of quite esoteric functions (batch setups, etc.) are -> disabled. It should come up quickly in Google, but, if it doesn't, I -> could email you a copy (it's tiny, and puts FDISK to shame). For my last -> few setups, it's been my partition table tool of choice. Added to my list of things to try, thanks. -> [later] -> I just finished reading that the BIOS can't see the drive. Try entering -> the drive parameters manually, rather than using auto-detect (it may be -> worth trying a second time, after clearing CMOS, if it didn't work the -> first time). Won't work with the existing motherboard BIOS but with the Ultra66 I/O card the drive was seen in Linux before I tried installing Windows. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
