I just talked to a friend of mine who is going to school as a substance
abuse counselor.  She also has a really interesting book about all the
disorders from ADHD to substance abuse.  She is being taught that although
both alcohol and ADHD have a chemical imbalance in common there is no proof
at this time they are related in any way other than the fact I mentioned
above and also the fact the ADHD people have a tendency to abuse alcohol
or drugs for self-medication perposes.  I will be going over this book
as it has the criteria for many disorders.  I thought I would bring this
to the attention that this is what is being taught in the modern school
on ADHD.
