Hey all, given that I am the sole moderator here at the moment and
I am relatively a tyro... I will need the utmost of cooperation
from all the posters here on this echo.
What bothers me is the continuing abundance of "commercial" advertising
that blunders into this echo every now and again....
We are by definition a "hobbyist" network and -=NOT=- a commercial
one.. there are few folks here that actual -=pay=- to have the 
mail moved... Howie D. is one sysop that comes to mind, Tom outa
Michigan is another.. I pay long distance rates out of my own
pocket just to keep connected to this echo by dialing 2500 miles
out of my own area code since my local feed is down... what does
this say? It says that anyone who advertises here is double 
dipping... which means I pay and you pay for their "free" advertising...
I am considering a new echo rule that in short states
-- Rules:
Darned few!  Promotion of "commercial ventures" such as treatment 
facilities or clinics is not in order.
---- Proposed amendment----
Upon receipt of second warning to the poster who violated the above rule,
the Moderator has the right to remove the poster from the echo for a 
period of thirty days. If the poster continues to resist moderation
the sysop of the system will be notified to remove the poster off the
system that he/she posts from.. the Hubs and Boards within the same 
network (zone) of the offending poster will be notified...
1 The poster's name or alias...
2 Original system that originated the offending messages..
3 The amount of time that the poster has been suspended....

Personally I am not an Iron Handed Moderator but in this case it has
gotten me errr slightly off kilter...
