Day 4 (10/5)
Took the RER B/C to the Musee d’Orsay. Since it was already almost noon I ate
at the restaurant there. Had, surprise!, chicken (talk about a rut). It was a
leg/thigh combo over some well cooked veggies (tomato, carrot, green pepper,
red onion). I was beginning to wonder about the French and their ability to
cook chicken. Both times it was pretty, for lack of a better word, blah. The
guy at the next table had ordered the same plat, he sent it back because in his
words it was “hard” so they replaced it with some sort of fish, white bass I
think it was. We discussed how not so good the chicken was and he said the
fish was excellent. Afterwards I went and looked at Van Gogh, and people like
that. Manet, Monet, Cezanne, Gauguin, Rodin, Pissaro, etc. I’ll admit it, the
only reason I stopped in Paris was to visit the chapel and the art museum.
Last time here I pretty much did the Louvre, only took 2 trips. Got back to
the room about 4:30 or so. The less said about what I had for dinner the
better. But I will say that it didn’t involve chicken or fries.
