 Is that correct

Any DOS - including any Windows - MUST reseide on C:. Whereas C: It
must be a primary partiton on physical disk 1.

You may install XP somewhere on disk - it it is required that the
basic OS (anything that is needed to get the GUI up is on C:
(primary) - ther is NO chance to left C: off! There is NO chance to
boot Windows from other partiton than C:.

To get eComStation installed beside Windows you needs:

1. IBM BootManager
    - needs excactly 1 zylinder of unused disk space (inependant of
      the size of that zylinder)
    - install using LVM (the replace of FDISK in eComStation)
       eats up one primary partiton.
2. one primary partiton OR one logical drive anywhere on disk
    minimum size: 500 MB
    required size 1 GB
can be installed on any disk

Even as it is possible to spend a primary partiton it is most usual
to install on a logical drive in an extended partiton.

To go straight through from an empty drive:
1. boot from eCS CD
2. fire up LVM (minilvm will do)
3. create BootManager at start of drive 1
4. Create a standard partiton in size you needs for XP (or other windows.
5. Create other standard partitons (only when really needed!)
6. create other partitons as logical drives as you needs
7. create a volume from existent partiton of type compatible,
bootable assign C: to it, as it will be the partiton you wwould
    install Windows on
You may hide that volume from eCS - but you NEEDS the volume
to get it inserted into BM. BM will see it regardless of you
hides it from eCS or not. You can install windows on it
even as it is hidden from eCS or not.
8. create a volume fom partiton of type compatible not bootable
This will be your DATA volume for windows
This step is recommended but optionally. Give it the drive
letter D: to have the same drive letter under eCS and windows
7. create another volume from existent partiton of type
compatible, bootable. Assign a drive letter of your choice
This will be the volume you will install eCS on.
8. create another volume from existent partiton of either
    compatible, not bootable (for HPFS)
    OR
    LVM (for HPFS or JFS)
this are your DATA for eCS.
9. repeat 8. so often you needs.
10. quit LVM with save.

a) boot from Windows CD, format and install windows on its partitons.
It is on YOU to select FAT32 or ntfs!
b) boot again from eCS CD. Fire up LVM again and set BM as active
Windows will deactivate it during its install!
c) format your voulunes you've reserved for eCS, use
    - /FS:HPFS /L for the system drive
    - /FS:JFS /L OR /FS:HPFS for the data drives
d: continue install, be sure to select the right volume.

When install is complete it is YOU who has to decide to UNREM ntfs
from config.sys on your eCS system drive. But for that the NTFS drive
should NOT be hidden from eCS.
