When Connie died I had a "Durable Power of Attorney", as did she. I've just
finally found a lawyer to have another drawn up, not sure who'll I'll stick
with the decision. Connie and I had discussed it many times, her feelings were
clear. Her heart stopped, electrical type, the paramedics got her going, on
the way to to the hospital it stopped, in the ER it stopped. Every time they
got her going again. When I finally got to see her she was on a respirator,
had kidney failure, and brain damage. I left like that for 24 hours only so
her could fly up and see her one more time. Then I had them pull the plug.
Horrible feeling then and I still dream about it. I'd always figured I'd go
first, after all I'm the one with a crappy pump. My father died at 57 with his
second heart attack, runs on my fathers side of my family. The mothers side
specialized in strokes.
