123c53da25ee tech Hello Wayne - --8<--cut WC>>>>> I just entered administration mode, selected my printer WC>>>>> ( which was listed) and off I went. ->>>> Suggest this to Tom. Maybe he didn't know about this? WC>>> Once he get online with the modem then he'll be hooked. WC>>> Then I'll give him some tips setting up a user account WC>>> for security's sake. ->> It would be nice to see Tom get KNOPPIX to work for him. :-) WC> Indeed it would. I'm convinced he'd be sold on it. WC> I'd have to look and see how I setup my printer again but WC> it was dirt simple from the GUI in administration. WC> I'm pretty sure it's just assigning the COM port that's WC> holding him up on the modem. I think so too. WC> I being skittish originally spend two days in ramdrive mode WC> playing around before commiting to the hard drive WC> installation. WC> I'm not exactly at the top of my game these days either but WC> it was no big project. Well ... I was doing well when installing a 'mini-Linux' install on one of my machines and decided to save some configuration info to a floppy. This is from a command line (CLI) only Linux install. I opened the floppy, wrote the files and read them back again. Everything looked good. I rebooted the machine and found the floppy was unreadable, totally scrambled. I had forgotten to _close_ the floppy access before quitting Linux. That experience has made me 'edgey' when accessing my working W2K hard drive setup from _any_ version of Linux. :-) I have a 233mhz machine not being used at present that I want to use for Linux _only_ and avoid the threat that anything might scramble the hard drive on me. :-) > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
