You might have to look for a little older model of notebook, such as
the IBM thinkpads. I have a T21 which uses the Crystal chipset and does
play midi files reasonably. It doesn't have a game port so I don't know
how it would send midi outside and don't know if it has that
capability. It has an external monitor port as most all laptops and
notebooks, so one could hook up an external monitor or a VGA to TV
converter. I just purchased a refurbished old 20 inch monitor for $104
plus shipping (70lbs and not cheap shipping).
