NP>EP> While you're thumping your head on the table, you might
NP>EP> recall that you originally responded to *someone else's*
NP>EP> post, NOT MINE. I was responding to your response to *HIM*.
NP>At this point, I find myself confused, and have to stop and ask some
NP>questions. For I truly thought it was you through and through.
NP>Did you not say a friend of yours was a freeloader for not being in the
NP>NRA anymore or was that someone else? I had recalled it as being you.
NP>If it wasn't, and if in fact I have mixed up two or more people into
NP>one, namely you, I sincerely apologize.
Apology accepted. I didn't say it. EP
NP>I have been in the NRA for several years now. And probably will stay in
NP>the NRA, with reservations. Although my apparently mixed up
NP>recollection of a person of some power (you) accusing a friend of being
NP>a freeloader for not being in the NRA has come extremely close to having
NP>be quit membership.
Your last line is garbled, but I assume you are saying you came
close to quitting because you thought someone in power (now,
that can't be me. I'm on the BOD, and work for all of you.) was
calling someone else a freeloader for not belonging to NRA. *MY*
definition of freeloader is someone who expects other people to
do all the work to defend *his* rights. Membership in NRA is a
good way to join the fight. Not the only way. EP
NP>I do sincerely think the NRA is wrong with their compromize tactics, and
NP>because of those tactics, is an active threat to the 2nd amendment. I
NP>think any gun control law is yet another chip knocked out of that right.
NP>Knock enough chips out of it, and it will fall. I have no doubt about
NP>that. Nor about the intent of many gun control groups in eliminating
NP>the 2nd amendment. I do truly believe that they are actively working
NP>towards this end. And I think any compromize is support of that
NP>chipping away. The NRA actively compromizes, and is in my opinion just
NP>as culpable as the gun control groups in the chipping away of the 2nd
NP>amendment.
(clip)
NP>At one point in time, some years ago, I toed the NRA's line. In fact, I
NP>toed the line of the "moderate", in believing that "something had to be
NP>done", and that some gun control was reasonable. Times change, my eyes
NP>opened. But even then I well understood what criminals were, and that
Nolan, I don't really think you and I see the world so
differently. I would suggest to you that there is a big
difference in "Not being as effective as they could be" and
"Actively working to destroy the Second Amendment" as far as NRA
is concerned. I can't go back over twenty years of work and try
to explain every decision to you. I can tell you that the NRA is
people; people working as hard as they can in a cause they
believe in totally. Perfect? No, far from it; myself included.
Perfectly committed to this cause? Certainly. Ernie P.
