subject: Win98FE Versions

JH>There has been a good bit of talk here recently about different versions
JH>of Win98FE. I have a "standard" OEM version here, as well as a full
JH>retail Upgrade version. Below is directory of the \WIN98 directory of
JH>the standard OEM version. I didn't check contents of the
JH>subdirectories, but in the main directory, these two versions are
JH>identical in filenames, filesizes, and filedates. Only difference is
JH>that the full retail Upgrade version is _missing_ the following files:
JH>FORMAT.COM, OEMSETUP.BIN, and OEMSETUP.EXE. Anyone interested, who may
JH>have a Vendor-specific disc, might be interested in doing a bit of
JH>comparing.

There is NO variation in teh Date of the Files. Win98FE files are all
the same generation. The Diffeences coem in in hte Manner the OEM vender
has the CD run the Install. And that is basicly Fully Automaticly with a
nAssumend necessary HD Fdisk and Fromat to a full manual situation where
you need to provice yuor own boot floppy.

JH>The file FDISK.EXE does not exist on either of these CDROM discs.
JH>I guess it must be buried inside one of the cabfiles.

That is why one needs an emergency boot disk typicaly to set up a Win
95/98 machine with Fdisk/Format, and several others programs of
 convience..
