In a message dated 06-15-15, Ed Vance said to Tom Walker: GM Ed, TW> The TS-430S is 12 VDC, 20.5 Amps for rated output, and requires TW> a power supply for 110 AC operation. EV> The Tripp-Lite PS-15 I used for my VHF XCVR couldn't even power that EV> TS-430S. EV> The PS-15 would go up in smoke if I used it on one of those rigs, You can very well use a 15A PS with a 100 W transceiver provided you don't need all those 100 watts. Especially on SSB and CW the average power drawn from the PS is very much less than those 20 Amps. Digital modes like RTTY, PSK and others compair to AM and and draw a continuous current but even those modes can be run from a 15 A PS provided you don't use the full 100 Watt's of the available output. Still better: Feed the transceiver from a 12 V battery and connect the PS15 i parallel to the battery. That way the TRX will be able to pull the full 20 Amps from the battery while the PS will keep the battery charged. That's the way I run my home station! You don't need an AC PS for every rig/appliance. CU L8ER, Sam, OH0NC aka Holger --- þ MR/2 2.30 þ If you find yourself in a hole -- stop digging.* Origin: Coming to you from the Sunny Aland Islands.
