Hello Tom -

CA>> I haven't used a printer on my computers in over 15 years
CA>> and did not make an exception when testing the KNOPPIX CD.

TW> you NEVER make a hard copy of anything??

Not at home, no. At work they had printers hooked up and I
would print hard copy _there_ (work related).

CA>> I have only winmodems here right now and cannot test that
CA>> function of KNOPPIX. Would that be the problem for you as
CA>> well (only winmodems)?

TW> NO I have two Hardware external Serial Modems.

Then I'm guessing the "ttyS0" wasn't entered into the dialer?

CA>> KNOPPIX is very good at auto-detecting hardware compared
CA>> to other Linux 'installs'. You should be able to find
CA>> someone who can assist you if you have a hardware modem.
CA>> For the printer problem I really can't say why it would
CA>> not work for you.

TW> Well both i nthe case ofr the Printer and the Modem the
TW> program detected it wilh NO prolbem. I just could not get
TW> them to work properly. Particualrly the Modem.

I don't recall right now what Linux uses for parallel ports but
as with "ttyS0" there is a designation for parallel ports as
well.
