| subject: | Win98FE Harddrivicide? |
Speaking of this subj., I'm considering upgrading the one w98 box here. Not to some later version of windoze (don't have one, and don't particularly want one), but to newer hardware, so I can have a faster machine and some more HD space. Given a particular good-sized HD, and given the original 98 CD (what I have), and assuming that I partition the drive ahead of time intending to end up with a dual boot, how can I ensure that 98 doesn't stomp on that partitioning and try and take the whole drive for itself? It's been long enough since I installed that I don't recall how it goes about things, and I need a bit of a refresher from you guys... If all else fails, I suppose I could let it rip, compress the drive, and then use fips or something to resize the partition to where I want it, but I'd rather avoid spending that time if I don't have to. ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
