In a message dated 11-0894, Simon Ewins said to Dean Roddey: SE| hwdlg=WinLoadDlg(HWND_DESKTOP,hwnd,dBoxDlgProc,0L,DBOX_DLG,NULL); | htext=WinQueryWindow(hwdlg,DBOX_TEXT); | WinSetWindowText(htext,"The prompt I want to use:"); | WinProcessDlg(hwdlg); | WinDestroyWindow(hwdlg); Did you test the value of htext being returned? I'll bet it is invalid. The dialog box is not actually a working "window" until sometime just before the WM_INITDLG message is called within your dBoxDlgProc. This is where you need to do your field queries and text setting. You're trying to query a window handle and set its text before it's accepting messages. Its message loop doesn't start until WinProcessDlg is called. I still do this kind of thing regularly (try to manipulate a window before it's really a window :). That's one of the first things I check my own code for! Nick .. OS/2: Your brain.
