He had already demonstrated (for years in fact) a complete lack of interest
in my opinions. He didn't seek my opinion in this instance. He was only
seeking numbers on his "side" of the particular question.

The ultimate evidence of that fact is that, after he badgered me a few
times to read the thread, I offered my opinion. I agreed with him. He
gave a perfunctory thanks, added one jot to his little mental "us versus
them" tally sheet, and then promptly forgot what I said. And for several
years now he has criticized me for supposedly expressing the OPPOSITE
opinion of what I actually expressed.

You recall wrong, and your second sentence shows that you completely failed
to understand what was going on. I made no effort to affect the rules in
his echo. I merely followed them. He violated the rules in my echo, and
directly threatened to ban me from his echo if I enforced the rules against
him. Funny thing: that was HIS definition of "echo sabotage." I cannot
imagine that he thought ANY moderator of ANY echo would be so pathetic as
to give in to such a direct instance of attempted extortion, so it was
pretty clearly just a pretext to get me out of his echo. He tried many
times to find other pretexts, but since I followed the rules there he
didn't have a good opportunity.

He'd still be in my echo if he were able to behave the way HE thinks people
should be forced to behave. And I'd still be in his echo if he weren't so
petty and vindictive about having his hypocrisy exposed. But this is how
he wants it, and so life goes on. The only upside of it all is that the
situation has made a more honest person of him. He often lies when he is
losing an argument on the facts, and now that he has avoided a lot of
disagreement by booting most of the people who disagree with him he doesn't
give in to the temptation to lie nearly as much.
