Although OS/2 continues to serve me well, my children are after
me to install Win95 so some of their more recent software using
Win32s v1.3, etc. will run properly. At present I have a
bootable FAT partition with MS-DOS v6.2 and Windows v3.1 and
OS/2 on a bootable HPFS partition. I am considering installing
Win95 onto the FAT partition but would like to keep Windows 3.1
functional for use under OS/2. What's the easiest way to do
this?
I have:
MS-DOS v6.2 and Windows 3.1 on drive C: (FAT)
OS/2 v3 red spine on drive D: (HPFS)
A copy of Warp Connect blue spine.
A copy of Partition Magic v2.03
Need to aquire:
A copy of Win95. People tell me that finding this shouldn't be a
problem, although who knows what else waits down that road?
Should I:
1) Ditch the Windows 3.1 on drive C: and install Warp Connect
Blue onto D: with it's Win-OS/2 support on drive D: and Win95
all by its lonesome on drive C:? Although this seems to be the
most sensible approach, I'm not keen on this option unless
there's an easy way to migrate my present desktop.
2) Leave Windows 3.1 on drive C: and install Win95 onto the same
partition hoping there's some way for both these versions of
Windows to co-exist?
3) Hide my Windows 3.1 stuff while I install Windows 95 onto
drive C:, using Drivespace (or whatever they're calling it these
days) to place the Win95 stuff on a compressed volume that would
be invisible to OS/2, then "unhide" the old Windows 3.1
directories on the uncompressed portion of the partition to allow
OS/2 to use it?
Any ideas appreciated...
