-> -> -> I have this new Thinkpad with 4 USB ports and
they are seen in
-> -> -> the BIOS, when starting from an ERD. I was able to
FDISK the dead HD
-> -> -> connected to the USB to FAT 32. Before, I would have
to instal the
-> -> -> dead drive in a system as Master on IDE 0 and the
FDISK always saw
-> -> -> it. Now why is Wayne C.'s HD not visible to FDISK in this same
->  -> ->   circumstances ?

-> -> He must of messed it up with some Funny LINUX stuff in hte MBR that Win
->  -> dosne't see.

-> WC> Nope, Linux fdisk worked just fine with all partitions seen
-> WC> fine. It was only upon loading the OEM Windows software disk
->  WC> it went bad.

-> Don't know where I heard, but they said Windows should go in first for a dual
-> boot. Lilo/Grub is much better at getting along than MS is.

That's correct for Grub as it had been used on the previous drive
as it writes to the boot block overwriting Windows files
however I was going to initially run it straight out of
DOS.
There's a script to test the machine for this ability
to load Linux from DOS and this machine qualifies.

Once there you just cp and image file and create a boot.exe
file to load Linux straight out of DOS.
Not a DOS window but after rebooting to DOS.
