Hi,
Could experienced users of:
1) Share portfolio management software - include. fundamental analysis
2) Sharemarket Charting software - including technical analysis
3) Options Trading or similar derivatives software
4) Data download services. Preferably end-of-day batch processessing
rather than expensive "live" data feeds which should includes share
prices & volumes, options, indices and commodities prices
5) Communications software for downloading data from data providers.
6) Suitable templates/models for use with MS Excel, Access, Lotus
1-2-3 and/or dBase etc.
Primarily, MS DOS, WINDOWS or WIN NT/95 operating system compatible
software is of interest, however your experiences with off-the-shelf
software for other o/s platforms such as OS/2, Mac/OS, Unix would be
interesting to hear about.
Ideally, the programmes should be either native or suitable for use under
Australian Stock Exchange market conditions and not be native North
American software products which can only manage data from DOW Online,
Quotron Advantage et al.
I do not wish to hear about National Futrax - I already know what the
colour of their snake oil is. Racing tips were their last scam.
Some of the products I would like to hear more about are:
Metastock
Dow Charts
Portfolio Reporter
SuperChart
TopTrader
Options Trader
Esy Options
FutureSource
Fastcharts
Indexia
Proview (Trading Support System)
Sharepix
Australian StockEasy
Easy Portfolio Manager
Shareman

At the moment I am using customised templates & applications (for Lotus
1-2-3, dBaseIII+) developed by myself over the last 10 years due to the
dearth of suitable applications available at the time when I started.
During this time I have seen many services come & go such as Viatel
MoneyWatch, Elderlink (now owned by Park Lane Computing) and others. Some
have been less than cost-effective, crippled or crudely modified foreign
(read US) programmes, plain bloody awful, or usually a combination of all.
With the advent of various on-line services, the internet etc., it is hoped
that somebody out there have some experiences with what is on offer at the
moment and what to expect in the future.
If you share a common interest on this topic and would like to enter into
dialogue in this echo (I do don't know of any other echo at the moment
where there is discourse on this subject), then I would love to hear from
you and hopefully we could share our experiences.
Cheers for now,
Bruce
