Tarasco misjudged the ball and that's why he would have missed it.  He
needed to jump to catch it and he clearly wasn't getting ready to jump.
 Had he really been positioned to catch the ball, he would have knocked
the kid's glove with his own and the interference would have been
obvious.  This was just bad fielding.  Jeter should have been out but a
bad defensive play by Tarasco saved him, the kid just complicated the
matter.  The way I see, Jeter had an easy double and might even have
made it to third.
