       My wife and I managed to maintain to poinsettas through last
       winter and the summer.  This year both "bloomed" and it was fun
       to watch the leaves turning.
We kept them watered during the winter, while indoors, watering when
they dried out. Outdoors the treatment was pretty much the same.  This
fall we took them to our studio, where they got less light since we
don't open to 10:00 am.  with no special treatment they survived and
bloomed.  We in Norfolk, VA - with the colder climate in your area you
might have to be a little more caring.
