RS> I think we have got our wires crossed a bit here.

Fair enough.

RS> I want to set up FD so I can FREQ when I see a message in an echo saying

RS> than logging onto a BBS, registering and downloading just for one file.

Sure are. Just like getting mail, too! :-)

RS> The only reason for the point number is that if I freq I need to use
RS> some number for my system. Some systems will only allow FREQs from
RS> points of listed nodes. Some wont even allow freqs from points at all,
RS> but thats a different issue and I want to see how much of a problem that
RS> is in practice. I can all always got for a mail only node myself if
RS> thats a massive problem. Thats got potential problems tho, particularly
RS> people have a tendency to crashmail and that could be a right pain for
 RS> me.

It really sux people not allowing FREQs from non-nodelisted people. And
the message you get back won't tell you that either, it will say that
you're not allowed to FREQ during certain hours. Considering all someone
has to do to get around that security problem is to make a very minor
change to their Frontdoor setup and put their address in as anyone they
feel like, it is ridiculous. Doesn't stop people doing it though.

PE>> I decided to go back to S10=2 since the machine was beeping again
PE>> today after you tried to log on using Frontdoor. Hopefully this will
 PE>> stop it.

RS> As you have no doubt seen now, I wasnt testing FD on Sat, just testing
RS> the modem config at my end, calling with Telemate as usual.

Ok, I'll unhook you from the echos now. BFN.
