What kind of modem are you using, and is error-correction enabled?
I get the same thing on line 1 of the BBS I call. Line 2 is fine.
I figure it's a lot of static on line 1, and since my cheapo modem
isn't error-correcting, there is no way for it to cope with the noise.
I prefer Telix for DOS, but if line 2 is busy, I go to Windows and use
COMit, which provides V.42 error-correction and cuts all the crap.
