RK>We may be getting a bit off topic here, but here goes. It has been repo
RK>that Millions do not have any health insurance. I can't substantiate th
RK>numbers because I haven't seen any hard data, but nevertheless, I think
RK>is true that a considerable portion of the US population does not have
RK>health insurance and must rely on Maid and emergency room care. In
RK>addition, the present system is being governed by bean counters and law
RK>- not the medical profession. Witness the proposition being sponsored b
RK>the California Nurses to put on the ballot a proposition changing the m
RK>operandi of HMO's.
It has always been thus in real life. It is just that the bean
counters are starting to count the beans of the middle class and THAT is what
is really starting to tick people off.
IMO this is a disgrace for the richest nation in the
RK>world because we are the most undertaxed of the industrialized countrie
RK>Germany's top tax rate is 57% due to the cost of incorporating former E
RK>Germany. Out top tax rate is 38%.
Germany also has an unemployment rate stuck in the mid-teens, a GDP
way below ours, job creation rate well below ours, etc. etc. FYI, much of the
rest of Europe has similar problems if they have the more socialist outlooks
so reunification is not the sole reason for above.
FWIW the actual effective top rate is nearly 40% because they lose
deductions like IRAs, and even a %age of itemized above a certain level.
I believe our top rate should be
RK>increased to pay for better health care coverage for everyone, excludin
RK>one.
My guess is you don't pay the top rate and are worried about you
health insurance. So you are talking about other people's money.

together and act in concert, they can take something and not pay for it."
