Nope! That's the actual name of the company. The Chesapeake & Ohio,
Baltimore & Ohio, and (I think?) the Richmond, Fredricksburg & Potomac
were merged to form The Chessy System; then that merged with someone
else, and they wound up with the /name/ "CSX". The other major
railroad in the SE USA is the Norfolk Southern, originally the Norfolk
& Western, The Southern, etc. The CSX and N.S. are buying Conrail (the
major railroad of the northeastern US, and will split it up; with the
Conrail name being lost. As yet, there are no true coast to coast US
railroads. The "transcontinental" business was because it linked
California & the West Coast with /the rest of the US rail system/.
