Hey...It just dawned on me, that perhaps is has something to do with
the previous connect. IOW, say the connect before you was V22.bis,
then the next call is a V32.bis and the Spirit just goes ape and
does not send the correct tones for the other modem to see it, or it
doesn't see the other modem replying to its tones.

The calling modem hangs up in disgust and this then resets whatever
it was that was wrong in the spirit when it resets itself. I am sure
that it will turn out to be something like this. Perhaps we should
send Paul a message every-time that we fail to get a connect on the
first call. Then maybe he could look back through the log and see if
there is a pattern to the previous connect mode.

This may not show anything, but it sure would not hurt to try it.
