It really isn't. The phone companies tried lobbying for this last
summer and from what I understand it didn't fly.
I'm told there is doccumentation on the fcc web site which shows
comments on this issue from internet users. I'm not sure of where,
but http:/www.fcc.gov will get you to their page, and you can follow
the links from there.
It's starting to rank right up there with the phony pen pal greetings
and good times virus hoaxes.
THat's right, folks,
There is no little boy trying to set a world record for his business
card collection,
You cannot contract a virus by reading a message with a subject line
of "Good times" or "Pen pal greetings"
And, if Dave Rhodes, the name used in the Email chain letter of legend
is probably in jail if he existed at all.
Think before you post. If you don't see a docket number attached to
anything about an FCC proposal whether it be on a modem tax or on
paying for email, don't forward it to every listserv you're on. I've
seen this crap resurface a bunch in the last week.
I neglected to mention the virus that supposedly would surface on your
machine if you read a message with a subject of "JOin the crew." When
I read that one on this listserv, I was in a rather antagonistic mood,
so decided to get a laugh or two by posting a message back to the
original poster with a subject line of, "join the crew" of course.
Great laughs, hope they had a panic attack just because they're so
gullible and stupid.
