Having had 4gb UW HD's, your scsi is working OK. As Harry T. said, they are
6-7 years old,
performance wise. I have been through the UW (40mb/s), U2W LVD (80mb/s) and now U160
(160mb/s), Here's what you need to exceed the BIG IDE drives of today.
Here's my 3 HDD's, all 10k rpm U160 of 36, 36 and 18gb size. Note that the
Disk I/O-marks
approximate your Western digital (above)....BUT... the data access time is
almost 3 times faster
(7.8ms). I noticed notable improvement when I went to 10k rpm U160's from
7200 rpm U2W,
especially opening the likes of Lotus SS and Moz.
Here is my Sysbench: (on Symbios Logic (NCR) (LSI Logic) - 53C1010-33 Dual
Channel Ultra3 SCSI Adapter)
Disk I/O disk 0-1: 35072 MB - QUANTUM ATLAS10K3_36_WLS 020W
Avg. data access time : 8.000 milliseconds
Cache/Bus xfer rate : 76.421 Megabytes/second
Track 0 xfer rate fwd : 52.160 Megabytes/second
Middle trk rate fwds. : 46.899 Megabytes/second
Last track rate bwds. : 28.189 Megabytes/second
Average Transfer rate : 42.416 Megabytes/second
Disk use CPU load : 3.830 percent

Total : 249.005 Disk I/O-marks
Disk I/O disk 0-2: 35072 MB - QUANTUM ATLAS10K3_36_WLS 020W
Avg. data access time : 7.800 milliseconds
Cache/Bus xfer rate : 76.474 Megabytes/second
Track 0 xfer rate fwd : 52.194 Megabytes/second
Middle trk rate fwds. : 47.348 Megabytes/second
