Actually Dalmatians are great dogs.  They are just very stubborn.  They
are quite difficult to train because most people give up too easily.  I
had a Dal a few years ago while married to my ex-husband.  He and I
worked VERY HARD to get her trained properly.  He got custody of her in
the divorce and still has her.  Now she is about 5 years old and is a
terrific dog.
