ML> Alfred--
ML> Well, you might call it dumb luck, but maybe you are smarter than
ML> you think. OS/2 has two kinds of CMD files. If you just changed the
ML> extension on a DOS BAT file to CMD, and if it doesn't contain any DOS
ML> batch commands that don't operate under OS/2 (I'm not sure there are
ML> any), it will run as written as an OS/2 batch file. Therefore, if the
ML> use of GOTO was correct in the DOS batch file, it would work the same
ML> under OS/2. You would not be running a REXX program.
Ah, that is just what I did and now you mention it, I recall reading
somewhere about the REXX header required to identify it as a
true REXX rather than a *.bat (or in my case, converted *.BAT
to *.CMD) file :-). Never underestimate the power of blind faith
(or dumb luck ;-) )....
ML> With a little practice, you will find that REXX programs can do
ML> more, faster, than can "batch" programs.
ML> Good luck.

I think I will get those t;wo REXX books you referenced. Sounds like
well worth it and NO I am not particularily fond of those "on-line"
booklets. I manage to wade through then but always with a huge
grimace pasted to my face....
