A friend of mine was put onto home dialysis.  Medicaid kicked in at that point,
later he went onto a transplant list.  I would suspect that it might for other
dire things like a heart/liver transplant and maybe some cancers.  Dunno, only
saw him start getting it and never asked my brother (esophageal cancer).
