| subject: | Visual C++ Problem? |
-=> Quoting Matthew Laird to All <=- ML> Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has gotten Visual C++ to run in a ML> Win-OS2 session? I've gotten it to install, but when I try to build ML> an application it says that MMD.386 is not loaded in the SYSTEM.INI. It's a VDD (Virtual Device Driver). OS/2 doesn't support these. I've used the Borland compiler (C++ version 4.01, and also Delphi version 1.0) here because it will do just about everything under Win-OS2. (debugging doesn't work, and from the dos command line 32 bit tools don't work). It does behave funny compiling 32 bit applications, with frequent crashes. Last summer I basically "gave up" trying to develop Windows applications under OS/2 and installed a Windows NT partition. If you can find a copy of 3.51, it will co-exist in an HPFS environment and allow Visual C++, any version, as well as other 32 bit compilers to work with full functionality.
