Hi Pat,
I see you have taken over as moderator of this echo. I want to wish you the
best. Hopefully we will all be good so that you don't have to give us too
many smacks on the keyboard.
I have seen many new quilt projects that are so interesting. To keep on
topic I will tell you of one that I thought of as cute.
In one corner it was a small 4 patch followed by a complimenting solid. You
need to make 4 of these all together. Then sew 2 together opposite of each
other and then to the side add a solid which also compliments the 4 patch
colors. Do this twice and you end up with (fingers don't fail me now)
|---|---|-------|--------------|
|___|___| | | Oh well I try!
|___|___|_______| | The big solid square I made 3 1/2"
| | | | | The smaller solid I made 2"
| |---|---| | The tiny ones I made by cutting a 2 1/2"
|_______|___|___|______________| square and quartering it. Also you can
| | | | | make all the squares different for a
| |---|--| | scrappy look or use 1 print and 1 solid
| |___|__|_______| for the tiny ones. The block ends up
| | | | | 6 1/2" but when you sew 4 of these
| | |---|---| together it makes a 12 1/2" Then you can
|_______________|______|___|___| add borders or whatever you want to them
to make the quilt you want.
I'm making a small one all in pastels for my great-niece who is expecting.
