Is there something wrong with using lha?  nodelist.lzh in area BBSSOFT. It
is 700k.  You should be able to get it off your local board, he must have a
nodelist, even if it isn't a complete one (e.g. zone3 only).

Quite difficult to parse that last sentence, but YES it would be a good
idea, you can use 3:711/934.2.  I'll send you netmail as to what password
to use.  I have put POINT.LZH in BBSSOFT also.  I'll hook you into 1
message area (messages between users) as well, whilst you try to figure
things out.  You may want to try FREQing POINT.LZH for your tests.  BFN.
