-> As Charles said, I tried to ignore it, really I did. -> -=> on 03-06-05 15:45, WAYNE CHIRNSIDE wrote to CHARLES ANGELICH <=- -> -> I tried to ignore it, really I did. -> WC> JH is in my e-mail inbox again, haven't read it yet. -> This is an adult, acting this way? Way to go, Wayne. That'll teach me -> a lesson, for sure. -> WC> He doesn't get the clue I'd not pursue or detail -> WC> the issues had he not continued to post claiming I'd made -> WC> a mistake. -> Wayne make a mistake? No Way! When bad things happen to -> Wayne (and it seems they often do), it is _always_ someone else's -> fault. This time, I happen to be your convenient scapegoat. I followed YOUR advice. I clearly stated REPEATEDLY it was an OEM first release Win 98 CD and that documents failed to supoort your claim the Ultra66 I/O card had hardware ATAPI support. The Promise web site makes no such claim. In a previous post I scrolled past, you inquired as to what happened between when the hard drive worked and then was failed to be recognized. I followed YOUR advice and "installed Windows first." That's what wrecked the drive. I've TRIED dropping the thread but you insist on accusing me of making mistakes by following your advice precisely. That is MOST annoying in my present circumstances, I was feeling pretty damned good prior to following your advice. -> Seems your _biggest_ (but probably not your only) mistake -> was turning loose that CD of Win98FE on a 65GB HDD. And just -> who, other than yourself, told you _that_ was a good idea? You, none other than YOU. Your were repeatedly informed of precisely what software and drive capacity you had here yet you e-mailed me "your caution borders on paranoia." _> Maybe Maybe seems to be indicative of your advice in general. I've tried to stop replying to you but you insist on claiming my followuing YOUR advice was MY mistake. If you don't know what you're talking about perhaps you ought not offer advice? -> your Win98 version automatically runs FDISK in every install, -> maybe not. Maybe it ran FDISK because it didn't like your -> partition setup? No matter now, it did. I plead innocent on -> that one, since I didn't learn that drive someone mailed to you -> was 65GB until _after_ you had a farkeled drive on your hands. Utterly UNTRUE. I repeatly e-mailed that FACT alone with the fact is was a win 98 first release. -> Another theory seen here (and embraced by you) is that the running of -> FDISK without permission was because it was an HP OEM CD. I don't think -> I learned it was a HP custom version until after your HDD got farkeled, -> either. The fact you don't think so doesn't qalter FACTS. I repeatedly addressed these issues, you EXACT response was "you caution is borderline paranoia." --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
