I am looking to move up from a Catalina 22 this coming year, and have
the following requirements for the prospective new boat:
1. 25' to 27' LOA, max beam 8'-6" (highway legal for trailering)
2. Must be trailerable and maximum weight low enough to tow with
a 3/4 ton pickup, or say around 6000 pounds.
3. Headroom 76 inches inside main cabin area.
 I have looked at Catalina 25, Catalina 250, Chrysler 26,
MacGregor 26, and Hunter 26, but none of these has better than
about 68 to 70 inches of headroom inside. I want a boat that I can
stand up straight inside (I am 74" tall).
Can anyone think of a trailerable not listed here that I could look into?
Or Is this headroom requirement going to be impossible to satisfy
in a boat under 30' LOA? I have a friend with a Newport 30 MkIII that is
almost exactly like what I want, but of course it is not trailerable.
