it should be noted, too, that my list only covers FTNs... no QWK networks
can be handled by a binkd installation ;)

i think there's been a couple of attempts at that... ISTR a recent one
originating in NZ or OZ... i don't know how far it got, though...

it would have been great if someone had done an echolist-like othernets
database back in the '90s... then operators could look there as well as ZCs
being able to look and find unused zone numbers... but since zone numbers
were duplicated, that carried FTN to the next stage of addressing, 5D,
where an eight character domain is added to the address... that helps to
eliminate zone collisions... well, kinda ;)
