Alot has to do with your local telco lines and service area. I live in a
rural area which when I do any comm pgms. has always resulted in a 21.6k or
24k connects for the most part and maybe worse from time to time. It's just
that lately and only with a ISP connect that's I've seen 28.8 or
better(mostly 26.4 or 28.8) and nothing changed other than using their comm
s/w, etc. and I have a short-lived inet connection. Even with their tech
support, I see some improvement but basically it bombs later. I've had such
good service from the modem until then, it has to be outside of the house or
the s/w I'm running, while the modem certainly is part of the loop, I don't
blame it since once used with the bbs it's still delivers. go figure
