THC> On second thought, forget the ":-)".
Delta wing aircraft has been around for a long time.
In the 20s, there was a delta-winged aircraft. Odd thing, with a big radial
on the nose. it flew, sort of. In the 20s the Germans were flying delta
and swept-wing sailplanes.
In the 30s the British fielded an Army observation airplane called the
"Pterdactyl." It didn't work well, but it was built in some numbers.
At about the same time, the Germans flew a powered delta.
During the War, the RAF had a swept-wing pusher built. It flew for a while.
The Germans proposed and flew a few, ending the war with the Go229 fighter
in development in Austria.
By 1950, the British had desinged the Vulcan -- that huge delta that crashed
in the begiining of "Thunderball." By 1958, the US was flying the B-58,
a Mach-2 delta. By 1960, both the B-70 and the Blackbird were designed.
I'll quit at 1960.
Delta wings and swept wings have been around since airplanes became
practical (or, "when engines became lighter"). Of course, before
that happened, we had birds. But delta-winged machines made by man
start in about 1920.
Before that....?
... We Capricorns are too practical to beleive inm astrology.
