Could anyone help young man, CLAUDE RICHARD, in the search for his American
birth father, name of RICHARD GRAY?  It seems his birth mother never
received any letters because her mother had destroyed them--to prevent her
leaving for the U.S.A.  She then believed that he had been abandoned them.
(She was a pregnant 17-year-old.)  Claude found out the truth in March,
1998.  Here are Claude's facts:

WHEN:  October, 1943 - November 15, 1943; maybe went back to the States on
leave; came back to Oran, Algeria, until the end of December, 1943, when he
apparently went back to the States.

1943 DESCRIPTION:  United States MP (Military Police), 20-23 years of age,
almost 6-feet tall, light brown hair, blue eyes, khaki jacket (silky cloth),
cap, high shoes and gaiters.  His friends called him DICK, and he had a
friend called Mike.

LOCATION:  Was based near the harbor, or the airport, Southeast of Oran,
Algeria.  It was situated between the Choupot area and the Cuvelier area
(near Cite Petit).  A road separated the base from a big Algerian market
hall.  He apparently came back to the States before
the end of the WW II.

He has written to a lot of Archives, 1.500 Gray families, Army, USA embassy,
President Clinton, President Chirac, US shows, US news, etc .. without
result.  In USA I find GRAY-L-request@rootsweb.com (850 gray families), I
have written to more of 5.000 people asking to forward my request, etc ..He
is in all xxx-L-request@rootsweb (France,
Ireland, England, Scotland.
