James Bradley wrote in a message to Jim Holsonback: JB> They are only 1-1.6 G in size, but plenty for a Linux install! Yeah, maybe. :-) My first install, which was Slackware 4.0, fit nicely on a 1G or so drive, and I installed *everything*, since I wanted to check out all sorts of stuff. Last one I tried on a drive that size was Slackware 9.something, and it fit if you didn't want X or KDE. Still have that drive sitting here and am thinking about putting it into use on something or other, I haven't decided yet. So I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. Nothing wrong with "small" drives, my firewall/router is using an 80M drive I pulled out of a 386sx low-profile box... ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
