I have a Bocamodem 14.4 V.32bis. The first problem is that when
transfering files with the BBS here, my modem becomes sluggish, a
problem that we've sort of worked out by cancelling and redoing
transfers. However, at first, it only slowed to 90 something percent
efficiency, and went to 84% over a week or so. Now, it likes to hover in
the range of 70 something percent, and I have no idea why. I don't
figure it's Deep Space Nine, because they have a 28.8. I have checked my
modem setup, and it's set to the sysop's specifications. Any idea there?

My second problem is that the blasted thing doesn't like to work in a
multi-tasking environment. A driver from my Quicklink II fax program
enables it to be "found" in Windows 3.1, and can be removed from memory
after detection, but it shouldn't be doing that in the first place. I
think that the Quicklink for DOS, when run through windows, is able to
find the modem. That's the whole problem with it. According to the
computer, it can't even find a modem when in windows. It finds it in a
software setup program, but it won't work after you reset the computer.
If there's anyone out there that could suggest something, it'd be very
welcome. Thank you, and goodnight.
