  In your previous post you implied that the functions were returning 0005
  (i.e.  ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED).  Now you imply that all calls to the KBD
  API are causing XCPT_ACCESS_VIOLATION.  Which is it ?

  If it's the latter, then it's probably a stack size problem.  Remember
  that the KBD API is layered on top of DosDevIOCtl calls to the KBD
  device driver, which will require appreciable amounts of stack space.
