  There is no parent-child relation between threads.  You mean "secondary
  thread" (as opposed to "primary thread") rather than
"child".

  The KBD API should be accessible from a secondary thread in exactly the
  same way as it is from the primary thread.  Post some sample source that
  demonstrates your problem.
